The flag of Argentina is divided into three equal horizontal stripes of light blue, white, and light blue. In the center of the white stripe is a representation of the Sol de Mayo.

Symbolism[]

The colors represent the sky and the clouds with the sun in the middle, the sun is called the sun of May, in reference to the May revolution, which marked the beginning of their independence from Spain. Legend has it that when a new government was proclaimed, the sun broke through the clouds, and it was perceived as a good omen.
