|Flag of British Columbia|
|Adopted||June 27, 1960 |
The flag of British Columbia is divided into two equal horizontal sections, with a stretched Union Jack in the top half with a stylized golden crown in the center of the crosses, and in the bottom half, nine horizontal wavy stripes (five waves) alternating white and blue, with a stylized golden sun with golden rays along the bottom.
The wavy stripes represent the Rocky Mountains, the Union Jack and the crown represent the United Kingdom, which British Columbia was once a part of. The entire design is based on the British Columbia provincial shield of arms.
