|Flag of Chad|
|Adopted||June 11, 1959|
The flag of Chad is a vertical tricolor of blue, yellow and red.
Officially the colours are interpreted as:
- Blue: the sky, hope, and water
- Yellow: the sun and the desert to the north of the country
- Red: progress, unity, sacrifice, and blood shed for independence
The flag of Chad is virtually the same as the flag of Romania (which at the time of the adoption of the flag of Chad was defaced with the national coat of arms), but its blue is slightly darker than on the flag of Romania.
