Bremen

The civil flag of Bremen, a city and a federal land of Germany, is a eight alternating horizontal stripes of red (the upper stripe) and white, with a narrow vertical area near the hoist side where the colors of the stripes are reversed.

The state flags are similar to the civil one, but defaced with different versions of the city coat of arms, and the flag with the greater arms has twelve stripes instead of eight. The state flags were adopted in 1947.

According to the German heraldic tradition, the colours of the flag reflect the colours of the coat of arms.
