Symbolism
"STATE OF IDAHO" and the state seal both represent the state of Idaho, obviously. The symbolism of the blue background is currently unknown.
History
Idaho had been an American state since July 3, 1890. [4] In 1898, the First Idaho Volunteer Infantry was presented with a blue flag displaying the Great Seal of Idaho. After the Spanish-American War, their battle flag was modified for a state flag design in 1904. This design has since been updated. [5]
