Flag of Iowa
Adopted March 29, 1921
Designed by Dixie Cornell Gebhardt[1]
Proportions 3:4[2]

The flag of Iowa is the flag of France, but the blue and red stripes are 12the width of the middle white stripe. In the white stripe is a stylized flying eagle, holding a stylized blue banner in its beak, with the words "OUR LIBERTIES WE PRIZE AND OUR RIGHTS WE WILL MAINTAIN". Underneath the eagle and banner is the word "IOWA" in red.

The French colours represent Iowa's period as a French colony. Also, red, white, and blue, are the colors of the United States. "IOWA" represents Iowa. The eagle and banner are taken from the state seal of Iowa.
