|Flag of Kenya|
|Adopted||December 12, 1963 |
The flag of Kenya is an equal horizontal tricolour of black, red, and green, with thin white lines separating the colours. In the center of the flag is a stylized Masai shield and crossed spears behind it.
The Kenyan flag is based on that of the Kenya African National Union. The colours symbolize black majority, red for the blood shed during the struggle for freedom, and green for natural wealth; the white fimbriation was added later and symbolizes peace. The black, red, and white traditional Masai shield and two spears symbolize the defence of all the things mentioned above.
