The state flag of the republic of Khakassia is a rectangle consisting of four stripes. Three equal horizontal stripes are arranged in this order: blue (top), white, and red. The fourth vertical stripe, green, is located at the hoist side and joins the horizontal stripes. In the middle of the gren stripe there is a golden solar sign (symbol of the universe).
The horizontal stripes represent Russians are taken from the flag of Russia, and originally were arranged in the same order (white, blue, red). the green field with the solar sign represents Khakass people, and comes from their ethnic flag.
