Flag of Montana
Adopted 1985
Designed by Montana State Legislature (based on original 1905 design by Harry C. Kessler) [1]
Proportions 2:3, 3:5, or 5:8 [2]

The flag of Montana is blue with the design of the state seal, stylized, in the center of the flag, with the word "MONTANA" above the emblem, in yellow letters, in the font Helevetica Bold.

"MONTANA" and the emblem both represent Montana. The symbolism of the blue background is currently unknown.

Flag History

  • The font of the current flag of Montana is specified as Helvetica Bold. This was done because flag manufacturers were often using many different fonts when producing Montana flags.
