The flag of Nauru consists of a blue background, a yellow horizontal stripe running through the center of the flag, and a white twelve-pointed star in the third quarter of the flag.


The blue represents the Pacific Ocean, which surrounds the island of Nauru. The yellow stripe represents the equator, and the star represents Nauru. The twelve points on the star represent the twelve local tribes of the island. [2] The white represents phosphate.
