The flag of Nebraska has a blue background with a gold and silver stylized version of the Nebraska state seal in the center of the flag with the words "EQUALITY BEFORE THE LAW" written in it.

Symbolism

The state seal of Nebraska represents the state of Nebraska, and the blue background represents the freedom of the United States, similar to the United States flag.

History

The seal that appears on the flag was designed in 1867. The seal appeared on unofficial state banners prior to 1925, sometimes on a field of yellow.
