The flag of New South Wales is a blue ensign defaced with a coat of arms.
Symbolism[]
The stars on the cross are considered to be representative of the Southern Cross, whilst the lion has the same purpose as on the Tasmanian badge - to represent the royal authority of the Governor.[1]
