Adopted April 1, 1999 [1]
Designed by (unknown)
Proportions 1:2 [2]

The flag of Nunavut is split into two equal vertical sections, yellow at the hoist, white at the fly. In the center of the flag, and making a border between the yellow and white, is a stylized red inuksuk with black borders. In the upper fly canton of the flag is a blue five-pointed star, facing towards the hoist.

The inuksuk is a symbol of Nunavut. Yellow, white, and blue represent the land, sea, and sky. Red and white are the colours of Canada. The star represents Polaris, the North Star. [3]
