The flag of Prince Edward Island is a rectangular version of the Prince Edward Island provincial shield of arms, with a border going around the flag from the upper hoist to the upper fly to the lower fly to the lower hoist. The border is divided into 18 sections, alternating, from the canton, red and white.
The flag's design is taken from the Prince Edward Island shield of arms.
