The flag of Sakhalin Oblast is a sea green (greenish blue) sheet with white silhouettes of the Sakhalin island and the Kurile islands, arranged in V-like pattern in the centre.[2]

The flag depicts a map of the territories included into the oblast.

The flag shows the four southern Kurile islands claimed by Japan.
