Proportions 2:3

The flag of Saratov Oblast, Russia, consists of two horizontal stripes of white (upper, 2/3 of the flag width) and red, with the oblast coat of arms in the centre of the white stripe (the coats height is 1/4 of the flag width).

SymbolismEdit

The red stripe probably symbolises that the region belongs to the Red Belt, the region of Russia traditionally sympathetic to Communists.

HistoryEdit

The flag was adopted on September 6, 1996. In 2001 some details of the coat of arms were modified.[2]
