The flag of Saratov Oblast, Russia, consists of two horizontal stripes of white (upper, 2/3 of the flag width) and red, with the oblast coat of arms in the center of the white stripe (the coats height is 1/4 of the flag width).

Symbolism[]

The red stripe probably symbolizes that the region belongs to the Red Belt, the region of Russia traditionally sympathetic to Communists.

History[]

The flag was adopted on September 5, 1996. On May 23, 2001, some details of the coat of arms were modified.[1]
