|Flag of Smolensk Oblast|
|Adopted||December 30, 1998|

The flag of Smolenskaya Oblast, Russia, is a red sheet with aspect ratio 2:3, with two narrow yellow stripes at the lower part (widths of the stripes 60:5:20:5:10), and the small coat of arms of the oblast in the canton area.
The red stripes symbolise the three great wars that took place in the land of Smolensk: The Smolensk War with Poland of 1609-1611, The Patriotic War of 1812, and The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The red and yellow stripes repeat the colours of Lenin's Order ribbon (Lenin's Order was granted to the oblast in 1958.)
