The flag of South Carolina is blue with a white stylized palmetto tree in the center of the flag, and a white crescent in the canton facing the upper hoist.


The flag is based on a historic South Carolinan Civil War flag. Also, the palmetto represents the state nickname of South Carolina, "The Palmetto State".
