Most histories show the Swedish flag influenced by the flag of Denmark, the first official national flag in the world. ^[3]

The design of the flag has been discovered to be in use as early as the 1520s. The Swedish Flag Day is June 6, the anniversary of King Gustav I Vasa's reign's beginning.
