Flag of Sweden
Adopted June 22, 1906 [1]
Designed by (unknown)
Proportions 5:8 [2]

The flag of Sweden is blue with a yellow Scandinavian cross design. The thickness of the cross is 1 unit.

Most histories show the Swedish flag influenced by the flag of Denmark, the first official national flag in the world. [3]

The design of the flag has been discovered to be in use as early as the 1520s. The Swedish Flag Day is June 6, the anniversary of King Gustav I Vasa's reign's beginning.

During the union with Norway, the Sweden flag was a part of the Norway flag, seen as a smaller flag in the lower right square of the flag. It was however removed immediately after the breakup of the union in 1905.
