Proportions 1:1 [2]

The flag of the Vatican City, also called Holy See, is a square flag with an equal vertical bicolour design of yellow and white. In the center of the white stripe is a stylized version of the emblem in the national coat of arms. It is one of only two square sovereign-state flags, the other being the flag of Switzerland.

[edit] Symbolism

The yellow and white are colours of the Papal States, and the coat of arms represents the nation of Vatican City. The yellow and white are taken from the keys of St. Peter, a Catholic symbol. [3]
